Up and running!

Well, I finally did it. Been thinking about this for years, and after being turned down again by the owner of the amelang.com domain (if anyone's interested, he's asking €49,000—it's all yours...), I decided to acquire amelangfamily.com and go for it. So here we are. Got Concrete loaded, settled on the Elegancia theme, and this is starting to look a little bit like a real website!
I'm excited about the possibilities. Haven't really made any final decisions about what the site is supposed to look like or who all is supposed to be involved. I suppose this is me throwing a big rock in the pond just to watch the ripples and enjoy the weird, chaotic, beautiful patterns that are generated as the waves expand and reflect. I do know this: We Amelangs are an intelligent and creative bunch. We won't lack for ideas.
Props to Laura for unwittingly shoving me over the edge. A conversation we had Sunday about family pictures and her generally positive reaction to the idea of a family site inspired me to finally DO this thing, so I fired all this up Monday, and here I am in the wee hours of Tuesday morning (it's still Monday in my head) doing some basic formatting of the site.
